I’ve been in an XI kind of mood lately, so I had to pull out the OG Air Jordan 11 Bred from 1996.
If you’re not familiar with 11s, the shoe was groundbreaking in its use of mesh and patent leather for the uppers, and MJ went on to win a championship in these.
These look great with black or red tops and dark blue or black jeans. There’s not so much red on these that wearing something like a red hoodie is overpowering. I haven’t been as successful pairing these with lighter themed outfits.
How Are The Materials?
The materials on these are thick and have held up well over the years. Bred XI in general make the best investment as they don’t yellow or age as obviously as other AJXI such as the Columbias. Of course, copping an OG comes with certain issues, the glues can dry out, so I had to reglue the soles back on these to even be able to wear ’em! Still, it’s worth it to basically have a piece of Air Jordan history in my collection.
How Do They Fit?
Like most XI, the OG Air Jordan 11 Bred fit a tad snug. Still, I was able to go down a half size – I wouldn’t recommend this though. Try finding these in your true size if you can. I think these had just been worn so often that by the time I copped, they had already been stretched out a tiny bit and could accommodate my foot size.
